General

Kuala Lumpur offers a variety of early childhood, primary and secondary education and schools are located in a variety of areas. Malaysia, with its large expatriate community, has over 30 international schools spread over a wide area of Kuala Lumpur. Most international schools have the British or American curriculum, although some schools use their national language as a medium of instruction such as the Chinese, French, German and Indonesian schools. International schools are often located near expatriate areas and many provide bus services from home to school and vice versa. Please refer to the KL and Surroundings map in the Housing Section, to get a general perspective of the location of schools.

Most international schools in Malaysia offer pre-school education (ages 3-6 year's). Please contact the schools directly for more information.

Playgroups

Unlike Europe or North America , day-care centres operating from 8am till 6pm are not common in Malaysia . Several expatriate communities run their own baby and toddler groups, and many large shopping malls provide public play groups. The IBU Family Resource Group ( www.ibufamily.org ) can be contacted for more information on childcare, crèches and playgroups.
